Large, Mid-century, Female Nude in Domestic Setting; Hild Chenhall
Honey-toned, mid 20thC portrait of a female nude in a domestic setting. To the right is a chaise longue of moss velvet and what appears to be the model's clothes, above the green sage, tongue and groove panelling is a print of Manet's 'Olympia.' To her left a console table and wine bottle with paintings loosely displayed on the wall.
Painted by the sunshine coast artist, Hild(e) Chenhall whose legacy includes the Queensland University of Technology 'Hild Chenhall Memorial Scholarship in Visual Arts.' One of the Trustees of the fund, Cooroy solicitor Paul Bone said it was Mrs Chenhall's wish that the money would be of particular benefit to painters.
"She was an artist for many years and wanted to be able to help other painters, in particular," Mr Bone said.
"This in itself is an example that philanthropists can make a great difference to art students and the creative industries for a small amount of money."
