Simply superb portrait of a lady in an imperial red dress with a lilac-white scarf. She looks out calmly, engaging the viewer, her deep, dark eyes and coral red lips drawing the eye in.

LOP-MONTEL, Alfred
Born in 1898 in Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer, Var, France; Between 1913-1916, Lop-Montel attended the Beaux-Arts of Marseille. In 1920 he settled in Montparnasse with his brother, the eccentric Ferdinand Lop; to differentiate himself, he added "Montel" to his name. Montel died in Paris and his workshop was dispersed by Robin and Fattori, in Avranches.
Lop-Montel was greatly influenced by Cubism, in particular Cézanne and Kisling and his group of artists in Montparnasse. He was a landscape artist, portraitist, author of still lifes and scenes of both Parisian and Mediterranean genre.
