About the Artist

Eira Axèlina Thelander, was born September 2nd, 1908 in Stockholm and died January 31, 1978, she was a Swedish painter and artist .

She was the daughter of A Thelander and Emilia Högfeldt and from 1954 married to Axel Wallert . Thelander studied at the Technical School in 1923-1925, Blomberg's painting school in 1926 and the Royal College of Art in 1926-1932 and through self-study while traveling to France, Switzerland and Spain. Separately, she exhibited in Uppsala and the Opera's foyer in Stockholm as well as at Louis Hahn's art shop and Gallery St. Nikolaus in Stockholm. Together with Björn Hallström , she exhibited at Olsen's art salon in Gothenburg in 1942 and together with Celina Runeborg in Katrineholm and together with Karl Örbo and Armand Rossander in Ljusdal. She participated several times in the Swedish Public Art Association's salons in Stockholm 1928–1950 and for the Red Cross booth at the Stockholm exhibition in 1930 she created a decorative frieze . Among her public works is a decorative wall map for Stockholm City Hall. Her art consists of women portraits , interiors and landscape paintings . Thelander is represented at the Swedish Sailors' Home in London.
