Mid-century, British still life by Horas Kennedy (British 1917-1997).
Transparent blocks of colour, ink blue, pale cyans and jade greens overlay a nut brown table. Lemons, aubergines and a skillet of apples, orange and ochre, are scattered at random. A small spray of red flowers is silhouetted against a white dish.
Kennedy's style is considered and restrained, carefully balanced, carefully executed. The forms are beautifully simple often made with a single brush stroke.
