Large oil on canvas by French listed artist Pierre GUYÉNOT (1914-2007)
depicting figs and playing cards. a cluster of ripe purple figs are silhouetted against a white china cake stand with a pie crust edge. Playing cards are strewn across a canary yellow table with a purple box of matches and an orange pipe. A thick book is abandoned in a swath of wrinkled fabric. The texture is almost impasto in places, the paint its richly applied.
