Large, still life by Swedish artist Anna-Stina Lorentze Nilstoft. Painted circa 1958 this vibrant oil on board depicts a lemon Holmegaard vase full of golden tulips. Three bright oranges huddle stage right on a berry coloured cloth. Sumptuous painting technique with lavish confident strokes. A wonderful pop of colour for a minimal space.
About the Artist
Anna-Stina Lorentze Nilstoft, (1928-2017) born June 15, 1928 in Kalmar, is a Swedish painter.
She was the daughter of senior engineer Malte Nilsson and Greta Westerlin. Nilstoft studied at the Skånska painting school in Malmö from 1955-1954 and at the Marie Wadskjær painting school in Copenhagen from 1955-1958, as well as traveling to France, Italy, Spain and Portugal. She participated in an exhibition at the Kalmar County Museum in 1957, where various Kalmark artists were invited to present local art. Together with Birgit Krafft-Wæsterberg and brother Strid she held in 1958 at Gamleby Folk High School, and she appeared separately in Västervik. Her art consists of interiors, still lifes and oil figures.
