Huge Contemporary Painting, 'The Three Graces Step Out,' Poppy Ellis
The faces of Mirth, Youth and Beauty step out in the Garden of Eden. In this large Paula Rego-esque painting Ellis uses her playful palette to the full. Riotous cherry aid pinks, Fanta orange, and Parma Violet. Richly pained and carefully observed (those feet!).
About the Artist
Poppy Ellis is a painter, she lives on the edge of the English Channel in a wind swept corner of Kent.
She grew up in Sunderland and studied Illustration at Newcastle. She has worked as an art director in publishing, packaging and food styling.
Her style layers painterly and abstract with graphic elements and patterns. Her still life painting mixes old and new objects with no apparent connection. Ellis loves colour and the joy that brings, Smartie blue, peppermint, bubblegum and sherbet lemon abound.
Ellis worked as an art director in London for many years and has now traded in her train card for her studio which she shares with her husband and two barky dogs.
In a French Montparnasse vintage frame.
