Beautiful oil on canvas by Swedish artist, Erik Julius Svensson (1920 - 1995). This mid- century treasure is bursting with vibrant and passionate brushstrokes, full of movement and immediacy. A parcel of russet red, golden delicious green and ochre apples tumble out of their newspaper wrapping. I'm thinking a buttery slice of 'sockerkaka med applen' with its fresh apple slices dipped in cinnamon-sugar tucked into the batter.
