19thC Pastel Portrait, Lady with a Blue Bow and Cross
French, 19thC Pastel Portrait, of a woman.
Dressed in a typical attire of c.1850-70s, a cyan blue bow at the neck gives a bit of color to her dark silk dress. A black velvet choker around her neck is decorated with a gold cross and a gold tassel dangles from her bodice.
Hair pulled smoothly back and in French chignon of the era, to draw attention to her gold orb earrings, she is a visage of fashion and the Napoleon III or modest style.
No rips, tears or stains. A superb pencil, conte and pastel drawing.
It has been opened, glass cleaned and then sealed again as you can see from back.
Glazed in it's original bevelled glass.
